Alexander Giesche – Visual Poems

8 ½ MILLIONEN2016 · Münchner Kammerspiele
A man receives 8.5 million euros and invests the money in reproducing past experiences as precisely as possible. On a circular stage, rooms are built, moved and performed again; a large video surface shows the same events from another perspective. Six performers reconstruct flats, encounters, a bank robbery and the body itself. Based on Tom McCarthy’s novel, the work asks what happens when memory is organised as a technical production. Each repetition is meant to become more accurate. Above all, it becomes more elaborate.
